Idamycin (idarubicin hydrochloride)
Regarding the side effects of Idamycin (idarubicin hydrochloride), a medicine for acute myelogenous leukemia, early deaths were only partly reported both on clinical tests and post-market reports.
Therefore we asked pharmaceutical industries, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, and doctors about this in 1998.
This led to new information, and we further requested that the Ministry disseminate the idea of "Intention to treat". We also went before medical societies to report on this issue.
